Welcome back to Lucid Media Blog, bringing you the best artists from the NJ metro area. Today, we’ll be covering a young rockstar in every sense of the word, Destin Miles. I came across him at a local Swansun house show, listened to his music, and had him headline at the first Underground hip-hop show at the Grotto. As someone familiar with the local scene, Destin Miles’ infectious energy makes him one of my favorite local acts.
Who is Destin Miles?
Destin Miles is a South Jersey rap artist who combines alternative pop-rock with emo-rap, creating catchy melodies and energetic beats that evoke strong emotions.
Local Origins
Destin Miles, a native of Glassboro in South Jersey, started his music career in the summer of 2018 when he was just 17 years old. He collaborated with his childhood friend and local producer, Zibloc, to create his unique sound. Some of his early creations are still available on platforms like SoundCloud.
Destin Miles’ Inspirations
Destin Miles is inspired by artists like XXXTentacion, Trippie Redd, and Lil Uzi Vert for their unique styles and storytelling, blending punk and rage with low-key emo vibes. He draws influence from rock artists like Paramore and Kurt Cobain, blending intensity with melody in his music.

Opinions on Current Trends
Destin Miles is a hip-hop enthusiast who believes in the constant evolution of the genre. He finds inspiration in the new waves emerging in the underground scene almost daily. He appreciates artists like Cash Cobain’s innovative flows and drum bounce, which characterize modern rap music. Destin’s thoughts on the current state of hip-hop are exciting as they push him to expand his horizons and explore new trends.
Favorite Collabs
Destin Miles has found a sense of belonging and creative inspiration within the local artistic community, collaborating with fellow artists Nitro, Indo2x, Crystal Genesis, Sonindigo, and Hellsentxo. His collaborations with producers such as Roman Ricardo, Lil Brad, TwonTwon, Census, and Tom Musain have been particularly fulfilling, resulting in meaningful works with a lasting impact. To see these talented young professionals and artists push the envelope gives me hope for the future of the genre.
Highlighting “Misery Park”
Destin Miles’ “Misery Park” is a pop rock album inspired by Paramore and the Deftones. It showcases Destin’s versatility and authenticity as an artist and is his most genuine work. The self-titled track “MISERY PARK” is an emo love song about lost love. It’s a welcome departure from the heavy opium rap that Miles is known for. On the other hand, if you prefer modern underground rap, “LOSTFILES23**” is the perfect album for you. This album embodies the essence of today’s rap music from Destin’s perspective. One of the most electrifying tracks, and my favorite, is “UP NEXT!” The song features a tight, energetic trap instrumental combined with the powerful, distorted vocals of Destin Miles. Whether you are listening to it on your headphones or stereo system, it’s sure to make you wish you were seeing him live.
Nothing compares to hearing him live in concert. The crowd’s energy and Destin’s on-stage presence are genuinely unforgettable. It makes you feel as if you are witnessing a performance on the biggest stage in the world. The way Destin commands the stage and the crowd is nothing short of remarkable. See Destin’s set in our recap video of The Lucid Experience for more South Jersey legends.
Destin Miles is quickly becoming a sensation in the local scene. For his fans, Destin promises a thrilling journey ahead as he continues to push the boundaries and redefine the contemporary music sound. Be on the lookout for his upcoming releases, follow him on Instagram. There is no doubt that he will continue to produce fantastic music.
