For years, Lucid Media Blog has been captivated by the artistry emerging from the tri-state area, and one name consistently stands out— Redbrags. Known by many names, and her undeniable talent in videography, she uniquely captures moments that feel larger than life. In today’s exclusive interview, we have the pleasure of diving deeper into her creative process, her experiences in the underground music scene, and her vision for the future.
Redbrags: The Woman Behind the Camera
“My love for music inspires everything that I do creatively,” Redbrags begins, reflecting on her journey. For her, music wasn’t just a passion; it was the reason she picked up a camera in the first place. “The feeling of living through something like a movie or a YouTube vlog is essentially what I want to give people, but in a much more aesthetically pleasing way.”
Like many creators, Redbrags was influenced by the “aesthetic” culture on Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest, particularly between 2016 and 2019. The way visuals and aesthetics can evoke indescribable emotions became the core of her creative identity.

She officially stepped into the videography scene in 2022. What started as a hobby during her high school years, creating projects for class and capturing photography, soon turned into a calling after seeing a Joey Bada$$ performance. “I remember looking at the videographer on stage and thinking, ‘That’s gonna be me one day.’”
Her journey continued when she filmed her first short film, bought her first camera with saved Starbucks money, and began capturing local band performances. Her work with the band Seven Crimson Sons and later collaborations with artists like Wiseboy Jeremy, Swansun, and Devyn Amana marked the beginning of her rise in the local music scene.
Creative Process
Redbrag’s process is deeply rooted in the music itself when creating music videos. “I listen to a song and try to envision a story. Usually, it works from there.” This intuitive approach helps her build a vision, laying out the story, colors, and feelings the video will evoke.
Fashion, references, and aesthetics play a major role in her vision. “I plan out who, what, when, where, and why,” she explains, adding that she always drafts a treatment to ensure everything is cohesive. Redbrags notes the importance of starting a video project after meeting the artist and discussing their vision in vivid detail, stating, “It’s important to make sure the environment is comfortable for everyone involved.”
Challenges and Rewards in Underground Music
Like many women in male-dominated industries, Redbrags has faced challenges. “Sometimes I feel like people don’t take me seriously because I’m a girl,” she notes. However, she views her feminine and androgynous approach to creativity as a strength, even if it’s sometimes misunderstood.
Balancing her art with work and personal life has also been difficult, especially financially. But she finds the impulsiveness of being an artist rewarding. “Not having time for things… or people… it’s something I actually cherish.”

Essential Equipment & Tools
When it comes to the tools of her trade, Redbrags is a gear geek. Although she’s still waiting to get her hands on a VHS camera again, she finds Adobe Suite essential for editing. “That’s what I learned on, and I use it in so many ways,” she shares. Her go-to camera setup includes a Sony EV Z-10 with a zoom lens or 4mm fisheye, though she’s created some of her best work using a Sony A7 with a 12mm cinema lens.
Collaboration & Artistic Vision
Collaboration is key for Redbrags when working with artists. “I like to honor artists’ ideas, whether it’s a concept, color palette, or easter egg,” she says. Her collaborative approach merges her creativity with the artist’s vision, ensuring the final product reflects both perspectives.
Skills for Hosting Live Shows
In addition to videography, Redbrags is deeply involved in the underground live music scene as a host. She emphasizes the importance of knowing the artists and the audience to succeed. “Make sure people have fun,” she advises, stressing the importance of inclusivity, hospitality, and a welcoming environment. Whether it’s a cypher or multiple spaces for people to explore, Redbrags believes in making every show an unforgettable experience.
The Future of Redbrags
Looking ahead, Redbrags has big career goals. “I want to do bigger productions and work with people I’m a fan of—people I could’ve never imagined collaborating with,” she reveals. Expanding beyond the tristate area is also a goal, with dreams of traveling the world for work and collaborating with more women in the industry.

She envisions more themed events, open mics, poetry slams, and mixers for live shows—growing beyond Jersey, Philadelphia, and NYC to different states and cities across the U.S.
Redbrag’s Advice for Aspiring Videographers
To aspiring videographers, Redbrags advises: “Let your taste be your backbone. Honor it, because that’s what will create your image.” Her words are a reminder that authenticity and staying true to one’s creative vision are crucial in this industry. “Be open-minded, be humble, and have fun,” she adds. “At the end of the day, the day will end, so make friends and be genuine.”

Miss Redbrags is not just a videographer but a visionary and collaborator who is helping to shape the underground music scene with her unique aesthetic, passion, and commitment to authentic storytelling. Check out her catalog of projects here. We can’t wait to see where her career takes her next.
