At just 20 years old, Nyrah Amani, the founder of Ambitious Artistss, has already carved out a significant space in New Jersey’s music scene. Her journey is a testament to passion, perseverance, and the power of community. From hosting open mics at a smoothie shop in East Orange to curating artist showcases at venues like The Living Room Space in Elizabeth, this entrepreneur’s vision has always been clear: to uplift and connect emerging artists.
A Journey Rooted in Passion
Since middle school, Nyrah knew she wanted a career in the music industry. Her determination led them to attend Donald M. Payne Sr. School of Technology in Newark, NJ, where she learned the art of music production. While still in high school, she began working at a Smoothie & Juice Bar in East Orange, NJ. With the owner’s support, they transformed a small space in the back of the shop into a stage for open mics.
On November 6, 2021, the first open mic event was held, bringing together classmates, friends, and artists. The event featured a diverse range of performances, from soulful singing to energetic rap, and was a testament to the budding talent in New Jersey. With the help of a supportive music production teacher and a network of peers, they began creating a safe space for artists to perform and grow. This experience laid the foundation for Ambitious Artistss—a platform built on showcasing and interviewing up-and-coming musicians.
The Mission of Ambitious Artistss
Ambitious Artistss highlights emerging talent through artist showcases, open mics, and interviews. Their events are more than performances—they’re opportunities to build a community where artists can connect, collaborate, and grow.
“Community is crucial for an artist’s growth,” the founder shares. “Through our interviews, artists can share their stories and promote their music. What sets Ambitious Artistss apart is the focus on providing performance experience. Building stage presence is key to an artist’s success, and we offer a supportive crowd filled with friends, family, and creatives to help them thrive.”
Curating Events and Interviews
Ambitious Artistss events are tailored to support emerging talent. A typical showcase features five headlining acts, with the first hour dedicated to an open mic segment. This format gives new artists a chance to perform and fosters a collaborative atmosphere.

Nyrah takes a dynamic approach to interviews. Sometimes, she reaches out to artists she admires, while other times, artists approach her to promote new projects or music. Each interaction is a chance to celebrate talent and provide exposure to those on the rise.
Ambitious Artistss Memorable Moments
For Nyrah, May 18, 2024, was a milestone. It marked her first event at a dedicated venue: The Living Room Space in Elizabeth, NJ. The showcase was a grand affair, featuring local artists during the open mic and four incredible headliners who captivated the audience with their unique styles and powerful performances.
“It was such a special moment,” she recalls. “The turnout was amazing, and I connected with so many talented individuals that night. Having friends there to support made it even more meaningful.”
