LUCID MEDIA MILESTONES
In the past year, Lucid Media Blog has grown more than I could’ve imagined. We are beyond grateful for the support from the locals who have helped us succeed. During this time, we’ve hosted six successful basement shows and formed strong connections with various partners, including artists, creators, and business people. Our network spans from the Jersey Shore Jazz Blues Association to rave collectives in Philly, basement venues in South Jersey and Glassboro, and New Jersey Entertainment Magazine in North Jersey. We’ve also launched a successful playlist series called “Traveling Local” and created our own Dana Johan. Additionally, we have developed a beautiful website to help connect local creatives.

BIGGEST CHALLENGES
Finding basement venues was one of the most significant challenges and setbacks this year. Although many basement venues and independent shows are being thrown, many of them got shut down in this area, like the FUNHOUSE, which hosted our 2020FUNK show, one of our best yet, and other venues like The Grotto, whose members have graduated, and are moving onto bigger and better things. We are very grateful for these partners as the foundation of this collective. With the help of our new partners at The Citadel, we will continue to grow our movement.

LUCID MEDIA FAMILY, FRIENDS & FANS
For those who can’t make it to the live shows, our stream team, The Voidbasement, posts shows online for those who fear missing out. We also grow our audience online, mainly through promotions on Instagram and live streams. We also grow our audience through playlisting, putting together playlists of songs from new hot local artists in consumable 20-30-minute listens. We’ve also been growing our audience by providing additional services like promotion for small artists, videography, and other promotional materials. For those interested, please contact us here. Growth has been natural, slow, steady, and easy to manage, although there’s always room for improvement.
AMPLIFYING UNDERGROUND MUSIC
When it comes to amplifying the voices of the underground, Lucid Media Blog shares our fanaticism for local music and separates the wheat from the chaff through our curation. Some of the best shows in South Jersey were our Underground show at the Grotto, The Underground II at The Interzone, and our 2020FUNK show at The FUNHOUSE. From raves to underground rap to hip-hop and RnB, showcasing these artists has been an absolute pleasure. It has also helped to get all the sounds in one spot so that people can easily consume great music.

GREATEST SUCCESS
One of this year’s biggest successes was our most recent show, Underground II, at The Interzone. It was the show with the biggest turnout, and we also helped raise funds for the artist IndioXO’s funeral. On top of that, we booked our biggest name yet, Baby Osamaa from New York. We’ve also had many artists contact us to try to work with us over this past year, and we’ve had much success, but I believe our most tremendous success is the team we’ve built over the year. From our partners, Redbrags, The Voidebasement, and Dgtlconcrete, to the creatives, scouts, and producers, we created a very well-rounded team, which I’m very grateful for
OUR EVOLUTION
Lucid Media Blog was initially intended to be a fan page for local artists such as Swansun, The Jettys, Wiseboy Jeremy, and Destin Miles. However, abundant raw talent motivated us to shine an even brighter spotlight on the music scene. As Lucid Media Blog evolved, it became a platform to appreciate music and discover new music, connect with like-minded creatives, host shows and events, and promote the incredible talent in the tri-state area.

LESSONS LEARNED
Over the past year, I’ve learned many valuable lessons, including that you can’t do everything alone. Building a team with a similar vision who can help you get the job done is essential. When we first started, Redbrags and I ran the entire show, trying to manage over 50 people, from door to audio to bar. We were scrambling to handle numerous tasks at once, but delegating became more manageable once we found partners like The Void and DgtlConcrete, along with many others. Our jobs became more manageable and, as a result, more enjoyable. It can be challenging to relinquish control, but it’s necessary in the long run to avoid burnout and to focus on what truly matters.
FEEDBACK
The feedback from our audience is invaluable. They are always up to date regarding artists we should be working with. Unfortunately, there are some bad actors in the scene; with our audience, we know about them. There are so many artists and niches within the scene. Our audience is like a family to us. We all care for each other, creating a safe and enjoyable place to express ourselves.

THE FUTURE OF LUCID MEDIA BLOG
Looking to the future, Lucid Media Blog shows no signs of slowing down or stopping. In the following year, we plan to double our current production, meaning double the shows, double the blog posts, and double the playlists of local musicians. However, this does mean we will have to expand our team. We are always looking for new and excited patrons to help grow our team, whether that be artists who need support or promoters looking to get their hands dirty in the underground scene where it all truly starts. Lucid Media Blog is beyond grateful for the support over the past year, and we’re eager to get started on a new year of Lucid Media Blog.
To celebrate a year of Lucid Media Blog, we’ve created a playlist of some of our favorite local artists, “Year 1 of Lucid Media Blog“. For more from Lucid Media Blog, follow us on all of our socials and subscribe to stay in the loop.
