Multi Spectrum Productions is new to the production scene, but they know how to make an entrance. On August 23rd, in collaboration with Voltaire Dispensary, they kicked off a music festival titled “Higher Learning” which featured some of South Jersey’s best and well known local college bands. The event drew in nearly a hundred people at its peak, while offering attendees not only good music, but also a food truck, face paint, a chance to support local artists, and a chance to donate some back-to-school supplies.
In collaboration with a dispensary, the event wouldn’t have been nearly as fun without the almost literal “Weed Fairies” that made sure all the attendants had at least one joint in their hand.

BACKGROUND
Started from a simple idea between friends, Multi Spectrum Productions (usually called MSP) have hit the ground running since their start in early 2024. Currently headed by a former mechanic Colin Mills, filmmaker Tavon Cross, and their vital studio manager Julian Liss: MSP has not only made a name for themselves in South Jersey but in the greater Delaware Valley and New York Tri-State area as well.
You can usually find the trio by their distinctive formal western/southern business attire while out filming events, especially CEO Colin Mills’ larger than life ten gallon hats, bolo ties, and even larger personality. Based out of Mills’ hometown of Mount Laurel in Burlington County, this group is one to keep your eyes on in the coming years.

THE SHOW
Since MSP came into existence a little over a year ago, they have made some valuable connections in the South Jersey band scene. These connections proved vital, as these bands showed up in force for the festival.
The lineup included: Swansun, Strange Velvet, Jag One, Happy Time, The Jettys, and Burning Oakwood, with a performance by local rapper and performer K-otic who also emceed the festival. These bands and performers drew a steady stream of listeners for the nearly seven hour event, where after the sun set: Cross and his crew provided the lighting (of purple and green) to keep the event flowing without interruption.
The event also included opportunities to support local artists, such as Dionisio Rivera’s paintings on the abstract and human condition which also proved very popular to festival-goers.
A special shoutout is deserving of all the people who made the event possible: MSP, Voltaire Dispensary, the food vendors, Joe Mills who provided security, Cross’ camera crew, and especially the Weed Fairies.
